Finding the right supplier can often make or break a business. Here are a few signs it’s time to start looking for a new sheet metal company to partner with:
Delays
Being late a few times over the years is understandable but if your supplier always seems to miss the deadline, then you’ve got cause for complaint and worry. One way to fix the problem is to talk to your supplier about it especially if the issue is starting to affect your production schedule. If there’s no change, though, that’s a sign you’ll need to go elsewhere.
Costs
If your supplier has been consistently increasing rates on you but there’s no discernible improvement in quality and results, then it might be smarter to scout around. Compare current price quotes from your supplier with others in the field. If you find a sheet metal company that offers the same or even more services at the same price or even lower, then making the switch to a new supplier will significantly lower your costs. That’s going to be good news for your ROI and bottom line.
Communication
The best suppliers know how essential communication is in running a business. If it’s hard to get in touch with your supplier or it takes the company’s representatives a day or two to reply to your messages or return your calls, that’s going to mean delays and setbacks in your schedule.
Delays are costly and about the last thing you need. If you want to eliminate that from your process, finding a new supplier should go on top of your list.
How to find one
Shopify suggest using online directories. Do an online search for well-known manufacturers and suppliers. Then check out their credentials and service lineup. Can the company handle the volume and work? Find out. Put in a call and ask.
